Dear SIOP Members,
SIOP is calling upon its members in Africa to contribute to the mission of the society and its collaborative work in paediatric oncology education, research and advocacy around the world by nominating themselves or another member in Africa for election as SIOP Continental President for Africa.
Lorna Renner, the current Continental President of Africa has made a great contribution in defining the objectives of this role, ensuring the voice of African members is heard within SIOP and disseminating the work of SIOP within the African Continent.

The Continental President for Africa is a key role in the management of the Society and has a seat on the SIOP Board of Directors. Continental Presidents are required to attend one face to face Board meeting each year, at the SIOP Congress, as well as ad hoc meetings via teleconference and email correspondence.

ELECTION PROCEDURES
Candidates for Continental President will be nominated and seconded by members with voting rights in good standing (except Members in Training and Emeritus Members) and whose place of domicile is within the respective continent. Members will be allocated to a continent on the basis of information on place of domicile held by the Secretariat.
Candidates are proposed by a Nominating Committee.

*Nomination Committee comprises of the current Executive Board plus the President of each of the continental sub-groups

The term of office as continental president elect for one year will start after the SIOP 2017 Congress in Washington DC and full presidency (Term of 3 years) will commence after the SIOP 2018 Meeting in Kyoto.
