SIOP is calling upon its members to contribute to the mission of the Society and its collaborative work in paediatric oncology education, research and advocacy. SIOP is inviting nominations/self-nominations for the following Board-level positions:

  • President Elect
  • Scientific Committee Chair Elect*: the position-holder chairs the SIOP Scientific Committee, is a member of the SIOP Senior Management Team and leads the development of the Annual Congress Scientific Progamme with the Scientific Committee Members.

* As per our by-laws, the Candidates for Scientific Committee Chair will be nominated by members of the sitting Scientific Committee. However, members in good standing may also nominate candidates.

PRESIDENT ELECT
The term of office will start after the SIOP 2024 Congress (Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, October), serving for one year as President Elect under the guidance of current SIOP President Guillermo Chantada and take full office at the Annual Business Meeting during the SIOP 2025 Amsterdam Annual Congress (3 year term plus 1 year immediate Past President).
The position-holder is invited to attend SIOP Board of Directors and Senior Management Team meetings during their “elected” period as an observer.

SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE CHAIR ELECT
The term of office will start after the SIOP 2024 Congress (Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, October), serving for one year as Scientific Comiittee Chair Elect under the guidance of current SIOP Scientific Committee Chair Asim Belgaumi and take full office at the Annual Business Meeting during the SIOP 2025 Amsterdam Annual Congress (3 year term plus 1 year Past Chair).
The position-holder is invited to attend SIOP Board of Directors and Senior Management Team meetings during their “elected” period as an observer.
Candidates are encouraged to review both the Scientific Committee website and the Terms of Reference of the Scientific Committee prior to applying.

SIOP Scientific Committee Chair

  • Responsible for the scientific development and proceedings of the Annual Congress
  • Responsible for representing all views about paediatric oncology, regardless of base specialty and personal, scientific interests
  • Represents the interests of research and guidelines as well as the Scientific Committee at the Board of Directors meeting and at the Annual Business Meeting
  • Represents the interests of the Scientific Committee at the Congress Development Committee

Nominations are an important part of the SIOP governance process, and everyone can contribute—from the newest to most senior members of our society.

ELECTION PROCEDURES
Candidates are proposed by a Nominating Committee**, which will receive suggestions from any member of the society with voting rights and in good standing.
Please make sure the proposed candidate is a SIOP member in good standing and has accepted their nomination to run for election.
Being a SIOP member in good standing means that the candidate has paid their SIOP membership dues at the time of submission of their nomination.

Online Voting Deadline: March 21, 2024 (12:00 noon CEST)
Result announcement: By email and formally at the Annual Business Meeting during the 56th  Annual Congress (Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, Oct 17 – 20, 2024)
