Introduction

The SIOP PODC Twinning, Collaboration & Support working group strives to improve the effectiveness of paediatric oncology collaborations and partnerships. This working group consists of an interdisciplinary, geographically diverse and energized membership eager to investigate and implement effective sharing of skills, knowledge and experiences in diagnosis, treatment and supportive care to decrease the gap in outcomes between children with cancer in HIC and those in LMIC.

Activities

  • Create and maintain a twinning registry currently held on the World Child Cancer website
  • Develop strategies and tools to support development and implementation of national and regional cancer programs
  • Foster development of networks of centers in LMIC to share best practices and conduct joint research to address local issues
  • Identify and share tools for outcome evaluation, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Facilitate connection of people and groups from diverse regions
  • Promote interest in global pediatric hematology/oncology among trainees and junior faculty
