Objectives

The main task of the Scientific Committee (SC) is to organise all aspects of the scientific program of the annual SIOP meeting in liaison with the Secretariat and to provide independent scientific advice.

  • Responsible for scientific program of annual SIOP meeting as described below
  • Decide on format, program, plenaries, breakout sessions, invited speakers
  • Review abstracts submitted for annual conference and ensure that those selected are of high quality and reflect innovation and diversity in the field of paediatric oncology and posters
  • Work closely with secretariat and ensure coordination with LOC

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME ADVISORY WORKING GROUP (WG)

ABOUT

The SIOP Scientific Programme Advisory WG (former Scientific Programme Advisory Committee “SPAC”) has been founded in 2008 and consists of experts in specific fields of paediatric oncology.

The WG plays a vital role in creating the program for our annual congress. WG members suggest topics for Keynotes, Symposia, and Meet the Expert Sessions at the Congress and review and score submitted abstracts to help the Scientific Committee (SC) select abstracts for oral and poster presentation.

ELIGIBILITY

A Scientifi Programme Advisory WG member is expected to fulfill the following criteria:

  • WG members are expected to be internationally recognized experts in their field with appropriate clinical, translational and basic research accomplishments and publications
  • Show commitment and be in a position to sustain reliable communication (especially e-mail) with the SIOP Office and congress teams especially during the abstract review period which takes place early April of the congress year
  • Be an active member of the society

The Scientific Programme Advisory WG members will rotate every 3 years in order to refresh ideas and people and to increase the number of experts involved in SIOP, in order to continuously renew and, thus, improve the quality of the scientific programme.
