Dear colleagues and friends,

I would like to take this opportunity of the International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD) to thank everyone in our community for your wonderful support to our cause (no child should die of cancer) and all the work your are doing on a daily basis to make this dream come true.

The road ahead is exciting but also challenging with respect to all the work that is still needed. Research is critical to bring new treatments, particularly for diseases with poor prognosis or conditions for which cure is associated with irreversible side effects. Efforts are also needed to offer access to care to all children worldwide. As you know, SIOP is committed to take an active part in the WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer with the aim of reaching at least a 60% survival rate for children with cancer by 2030. The ICCD is a great occasion to take a step back, celebrate our achievements and look to the future with optimism and hope.

Thank you again for the wonderful work you are doing.

Eric Bouffet (SIOP President) on behalf of the board
