“Our planet, our health – Preserving a future for the children and adolescents we care for.”

Since 1950, the World Health Organization (WHO) has designated every 7th of April as World Health Day to raise awareness about health challenges around the globe. This year, in the midst of a pandemic, the Ukraine crisis, a polluted planet, and increasing diseases like cancer, asthma and heart disease, WHO will focus global attention on urgent actions needed to keep humans and the planet healthy and foster a movement to create societies focused on well-being.

World Health Day Message 2022 – Our planet, our health

SIOP is welcoming the World Health Day messages, which are reflected in SIOP’s mission to improve the lives of children and adolescents with cancer. While the COVID-19 pandemic showed us the healing power of science, it also highlighted the inequities in our world. Our vision is that no child should die of cancer: cure for more, care for all. There are weaknesses in all areas of society and it underlines the urgency of creating sustainable well-being societies committed to achieving equitable health now and for future generations without breaching ecological limits.
