A one-year clinical fellowship position is being offered at The University of Manitoba in the Department of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/BMT at CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB), commencing July 2026.
The fellowship focuses on advanced training in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/BMT which will encompass a wide variety of diagnoses, including both non-malignant and malignant hematologic disorders, solid tumours, and advanced treatment modalities such as stem cell therapy, immunotherapy, and targeted inhibitors of cellular pathways. The specific scope of the fellowship will be highly dependent on the unique interests and intent of the successful candidate. Candidates are required to have a strong knowledge of the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of common conditions in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, and a solid approach to the evaluation of new clinical questions. As a member of the care team, the successful candidate will participate in inpatient ward rounds, consultative activities within Children’s Hospital, and outpatient clinics at CancerCare Manitoba. There will also be laboratory-based rotations to advance understanding and knowledge of diagnostic modalities. Specific clinical activities will be tailored to your specific needs and interests, but you will be expected to take on a senior supervisory role and exercise appropriate independence, under graduated supervision.
The successful fellow will hold a PGY6 equivalent position with the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health and will be paid an annual stipend guided by the PARIM guidelines. Applicants for this fellowship must meet the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM) eligibility criteria for obtaining an Academic Post Certification Trainee license in Manitoba. International Medical Graduate (IMG) applicants must demonstrate evidence of English proficiency (as recommended by the University of Manitoba).
Applicants must have completed at least two years of training in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, at a recognized training program.
Interested Applicants will be required to submit a personal letter, describing the desire to pursue advanced training as well as the specific area of interest, and a full Curriculum Vita, and evidence of English proficiency (if applicable). At least three letters of reference must be provided, including one from their Program Director in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
