Overview
This award is for SIOP members who has demonstrated meaningful contributions to adolescent and young adult (AYA) oncology care, particularly within global health and resource-limited settings.
The motivation for the award
- To support and recognise leaders in global AYA oncology.
- To promote visibility of innovative and impactful work addressing the needs of AYAs with cancer across diverse healthcare settings.
- To highlight initiatives that improve equity, access, survivorship, transition of care, psychosocial support, research capacity, or multidisciplinary collaboration for AYAs worldwide.
Eligible Awardees
Applicants must:
- Be members of SIOP. While GHN AYA Working Group membership is not required for application, all applicants will be encouraged to join the Working Group.
- Have demonstrated significant contributions to AYA oncology care during their career, including but not limited to:
- Global health initiatives
- Programme development and implementation
- Transition of care and survivorship initiatives
- Quality improvement projects
- Research and collaborative networks
- Advocacy and policy efforts
- Education and mentorship
- Psychosocial or supportive care programmes
- Contributions to SIOP and/or GHN activities
Particular consideration will be given to applicants working in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) or resource-constrained settings, and to initiatives demonstrating measurable impact, innovation, collaboration, or sustainability.
Successful Candidates Will Receive
- $2,500 USD to support event-related costs associated with attending SIOP San Antonio 2026 (travel, accommodation, registration, or related expenses).
- Formal recognition from the GHN.
Selection Process
Applications will be evaluated on predefined criteria by the GHN AYA Steering Group and selected candidates recommended for final approval through the appropriate SIOP leadership process.
Applications will be evaluated considering the applicant’s available resources, local context, and demonstrated impact relative to opportunity. Particular value will be placed on initiatives that address inequities in AYA cancer care and contribute to strengthening AYA oncology capacity globally.

One letter of recommendation should be provided. Letters should describe:
- The relationship with the applicant
- The applicant’s contributions and impact
- Reasons supporting their nomination
- Their commitment to improving AYA oncology care
