Information for Media Representatives (SIOP Media Policy)

Media registration

SIOP welcomes media interested in obtaining information and reporting on paediatric cancer issues. Registration is free to bona fide journalists on presentation of a letter of assignment and a valid press card. Media representatives are required to observe and abide by the SIOP Media Policy which applies to all SIOP events.

If you are planning to attend the SIOP congress, please send your press credentials directly to the SIOP Media Office, media@siop-online.org

Media registration in advance is strongly recommended although on-site registration will still be possible.

Media Room

We do not provide an official media and press room during our annual congress, but should you need to rent a room for your staff, please contact our Press Office directly media@siop-online.org to inquire about room availability and rates.

Third-party media activities

Media activities initiated by third parties during or in connection with, including, but not limited to:
• Meetings such as press conferences, media briefings, educational sessions for media representatives, as well as
• PR activities, such as press releases, news, articles, interviews, etc.
are subject to the SIOP Policy on Third-Party Media Activities.

This policy aims to guarantee proper and correct distribution of paediatric oncology related information to media representatives in connection with the conference.
Press events in or outside the congress centre but concomitant with/or during breaks of the scientific programme of  the SIOP AnnualCongress are subject to SIOP Press Office approval.

Blackout times

Blackout times apply during the main annual congress program (excl. Educational Day – Day -1)*during main meeting hours.
NB: if you are planning to invite any key opinion leaders or SIOP leadership to your press or media activity prior to the congress, please inform the SIOP office info@siop-online.org accordingly, since this might overlap with internal society meetings.
We will try to accommodate these requests in the best way we can.

Publication schedule for accepted abstracts

Abstracts will be made available one month prior to the congress through a special abstract supplement via our society journal Pediatric Blood and Cancer (online only) as well as on our Membership section “My SIOP” to all our members.
