Jeff Dome, Congress Development Committee Chair
The Annual SIOP Congress has played a central role in the society’s work. It serves as a venue for global networking, sharing knowledge and learning about the latest developments in pediatric oncology. The Congress is also a critical revenue stream for SIOP. Recognizing the Congress’s pivotal role and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on large in-person gatherings, the Board established a Congress Development Committee (CDC), as detailed in the new SIOP Strategy 2021-2025.
The need for the CDC is also driven by the opportunity that arose, following the first-ever Virtual SIOP Congress in October 2020, to innovate and offer SIOP members and delegates new options for participating in the Annual Congress and to benefit from its content beyond the congress itself.
Harnessing learning from the 2020 Virtual Congress, the CDC will set out the goals and the overall direction for the development of future Congresses. The CDC will work with both the Scientific Committee and the Congress Organizer Company to deliver a strong Annual Congress. The CDC reports to the Board of Directors.
