The year 2022 will be remembered by many of us as the year we met each other in person again. We have learned from the pandemic period that virtual communication is also an effective way of staying connected and enabling those who cannot travel to the Congress to participate in the sessions. In 2022, we had an additional 800+ colleagues joining the Congress online. We believe this “hybrid format” is here to stay so we will work to perfect it over time.
In 2022, we focused on updating our governance procedures to improve the efficiency and professionalism of our organisational structure. Thanks to our members’ support and strategic budget management, we were able to provide financial assistance to our Continental Branches and some of our Networks. The Program for Advancing Research Capacity in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (PARC) raised funds to support cooperative groups in three continents to do local research and gather evidence to guide regional practices.
