APHOG Session — SIOP Annual Congress 2026

Mark your calendars for a key session at this year’s SIOP Annual Congress. On Wednesday, September 16, from 10:00 to 11:50 AM in Room 221, the Asian Pacific Hematology-Oncology Group (APHOG) will host a 110-minute session dedicated to advancing childhood cancer research across Asia.

Panel Discussion: “The Burden of Childhood Cancer Clinical Research in Asia: Challenges and Future Directions”

The centerpiece of the session is a 70-minute panel discussion (10:40–11:50 AM) bringing together leading voices in pediatric oncology to examine the obstacles facing clinical research in the region and to chart a path forward.

The panel will be co-chaired by Rejin Kebudi and Godfrey Chan.

Panelists will each speak for 8 minutes, sharing perspectives from their respective organizations:

  • Asim Belgaumi — St. Jude Global (Eastern Mediterranean region)
  • Rashmi Dalvi — APHOG
  • Gevorg Tamamyan — SIOP Asia and POEM
  • Guillermo Chantada — SLAOP and SIOP
  • Girish Chinnaswamy — Vice-Chair, PARC Project (presenting a regional success story)

Following the panelist presentations, Kirill Kirgizov of RSPOH will offer a 4-minute commentary, after which the floor will open for a 26-minute discussion with attendees.

This session offers a timely opportunity for the global pediatric oncology community to engage with the specific challenges of conducting childhood cancer research in Asia and to explore collaborative strategies for the future. All congress attendees are encouraged to attend.
