SIOP is calling upon its members in Asia to contribute to the mission of our Society and its collaborative work in paediatric oncology education, research, and advocacy across the region by nominating themselves or a colleague for leadership.

We are opening an extraordinary call for nominations for the position of SIOP Asia Continental President.

Our current Continental President, Gevorg Tamamyan, has decided to step down before the end of his official term to pursue his candidacy for the role of Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO). Recognizing that this campaign will demand substantial time and dedication, Gevorg has made the thoughtful decision to step aside to ensure SIOP Asia receives the dedicated leadership it deserves. We extend our immense gratitude to Gevorg for his outstanding leadership and service, and we wish him the very best in his upcoming WHO candidacy.

Accordingly, we are now opening the nomination process to all eligible SIOP Asia members to select our next Continental President. The term of our new SIOP Asia President will start right after succesful elections and officially end October 2030.

Candidate Profile & Criteria
A candidate for the SIOP Asia Continental President position (SIOP Board of Directors Member) should fulfill the following criteria:

  • Be an active SIOP member in good standing within the Asia continent.

  • Be an experienced, accredited senior healthcare professional in paediatric oncology (we encourage applications across all disciplines).

  • Have an established track record in clinical care, education, research, and publication.

  • Be experienced and competent in medical, administrative, and strategic leadership.

  • Preferably have prior leadership experience within a national, regional, or international paediatric oncology society.

  • Demonstrate strong commitment and the ability to maintain reliable communication with the SIOP Office and Board.

  • Be prepared to commit the necessary time and energy to represent and advance the interests of SIOP Asia globally.

  • Deadline for Nominations: October 30, 2026 (14:00 CET)

  • Candidate Review by Nominating Committee

  • Announcement of Candidates & Online Voting (SIOP Asia Members only) Opens: November 9, 2026

  • Voting Deadline: November 30, 2026 (14:00 CET)

  • Announcement of Results: Via email and formally at next Annual Business Meeting 2027

Candidates (must be active SIOP Asia Member) may be nominated by any SIOP member in good standing, or members may nominate themselves (self-nominations are welcome). Before submitting a nomination for a colleague, please ensure they are willing to accept the role.
