As the Global Nursing Project Coordinator for the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Courtney Sullivan, MSN, APRN, CPNP-AC, CPHON is responsible for leading development of pediatric oncology nursing initiatives with international hospitals and organizations, mainly in limited-resource countries. Her role focuses on enhancing nursing quality and patient outcomes through implementing hospital- and regional-education programs, nursing standards and quality improvement/implementation science projects. Mrs. Sullivan’s recent clinical focus as a nurse practitioner is in leukemia/lymphoma. Additionally, she serves in various roles within the Association of Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurses (APHON), where she is currently Chair of the Global Outreach Committee and co-led a pilot-series bringing the APHON chemotherapy/biotherapy certificate course to Latin America. Mrs. Sullivan is an active member of the International Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP) Young Investigator Education Day Committee, Nursing Steering Committee and Baseline Nursing Standards Task Force. She is also engaged in advocacy and health policy focusing on nursing sub-specialization, safety and standards with the WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer. Presently, she is pursuing her PhD at the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a research interest of developing quality metrics for pediatric oncology nursing
