Dear Members of the SIOP Women Leaders Network,

The field of Paediatric Oncology has been transformed by unstinted efforts of many exceptional women. These women have broken through the proverbial ‘glass ceilings’ and achieved great success in advancing our understanding of childhood cancer. The 2024 SIOP Almanac of Women Leaders profiles many such women leaders and seeks to celebrate and honour their contributions.

Today’s profile is of Ms. Patricia Blanc, a childhood cancer advocate, who founded the Imagine for Margo: Children without Cancer” Association in 2011 after losing her daughter, Margaux, to an aggressive brain tumor at the age of 14. The Association fundraised 20 million EUR and allocated funding to 60 research projects to accelerate innovations for paediatric cancer in Europe.

And here is Ms. Patricia Blanc’s advice to those who follow in her footsteps:

GO: take the opportunities that come to you, and do not miss a chance to follow your dreams. FIGHT against all the hard moments that will come to you. WIN, accomplish the things you want, follow your dreams and always try to be a better person.
