2024 in Numbers:

  • 2 new SIOP Networks established
  • 4 Regional Congresses took place in 2024-Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe
  • 10 yrs of SIOP membership were purchased by 1 SIOP member
  • 16 TORs of SIOP Networks/WGs/Committees’ drafted or revised
  • 24% increase in SIOP membership, compared to 2023 (700+ new members gained)
  • 36 yrs is the average age of Congress attendees and 46 yrs is the average of SIOP members
  • 43+ online webinars & educational events held
  • 109 countries sent delegates to the SIOP Annual Congress
  • 564 people viewed Eric Bouffet’s lecture on Targeted Therapies for Pediatric Low Grade Gliomas, offered by Istanbul Uni Oncology Series and endorsed by SIOP, and featured on the SIOP YouTube channel
  • 2,154 people downloaded the SIOP Gold September digital frame for advocacy
  • 3,200+ attendees participated in our online events, many members participating in multiple events
  • 28,000+ views of the Congress ad featuring SIOP Women Leaders Co-Chair Sara Cohen-Gogo

 

All Networks/WGs/Committees/Continents

  • Proposal submission for 2026 SIOP Annual Congress is open (due April 1, 2025) – your idea for symposia, keynote lecture and other sessions are very welcome.
  • Contributions to the 2024 SIOP Annual Report have been requested. Many thanks to the several Networks and WGs who already submitted their contributions!

 

Updates on the Wonderful Work and Initiatives across the Society

  1. The SIOP Epidemiology and Outcomes Network updated its webpage.
  2. The SIOP Survivorship Network held its first SG meeting on 12/2/24.
  3. The SIOP Scientific Committee opened the process to recruit new members to the Scientific Program Advisory Working Group (formerly known as SPAC).
  4. The SIOP Nutrition Network held a Network update meeting on 12/2/24.
  5. The SIOP GHN AYA WG held a session on “AYA GHN 2025 Vision: Building the Future of AYA Cancer Care Together!” on 12/18/24.
  6. The SIOP Psychosocial Wellbeing WG held a session on “Psychopharmacology in Paediatric Oncology” on 12/19/24.
  7. The SIOP Women Leaders Network held a meeting on 12/14/24 and worked on the call for nominations for the 2025 Almanac of Women Leaders.
  8. SIOP Asia held the first meeting of its newly formed Executive Board on 12/5/24.
  9. WHO NSA Engagement Committee held a PAHO and CCI on 11/28/24 and worked on submissions and advocacy in relation to Global Cancer Status Report, WHO Executive Board, WHA 2024 Side Event, and 4th High Level Meeting on NCDs’ Outcome Declaration.
  10. The SIOP Advocacy Committee ran the Advocacy toolkit survey which closed on 12/11/24. Analysis is ongoing.
