SIOP 2025 in Amsterdam was an outstanding and productive week for the Nutrition Network. With the full Steering Group attending in person, the congress opened with the annual Nutrition Network Meeting, where the committee shared updates on ongoing projects and members presented their accepted online abstracts.

Throughout the week, Nutrition Network activities drew strong engagement. Tuesday’s poster viewing session sparked valuable discussions, while Wednesday’s oral presentation session filled the room with lively debate and insightful questions. A dedicated spotlight session showcased highlights from this year’s educational webinars and introduced members to the recently released podcast on the Network’s systematic review.

On Thursday, Steering Group members presented across parallel sessions, contributing to both the Supportive Care Symposium and the Global Health Network. The afternoon spotlight session continued with further high-quality abstract presentations from members.

A Milestone Event: The First SIOP Nutrition Network Research Forum

The highlight of the week was the inaugural SIOP Nutrition Network Research Forum, held on 24 October 2025 in partnership with the Prinses Máxima Center and the International Initiative for Pediatrics and Nutrition (IIPAN). The forum convened more than 50 international experts from both high- and low- and middle-income countries to shape a unified global nutrition research strategy for paediatric oncology.

The programme featured presentations on emerging and priority areas—including body composition, prehabilitation, the microbiome and micronutrients, nutritional assessment tools, and guideline development, alongside interdisciplinary discussions linking nutrition with pharmacology, rehabilitation, radiation oncology, and ARIA.

The day concluded with three collaborative working groups on Prehabilitation, Drug Dosing and Body Composition, and Advocacy, each defining clear priorities to guide joint efforts over the next five years.

This first Research Forum marks a significant step toward strengthening evidence-based nutrition care for children with cancer worldwide and reinforces the Nutrition Network’s role as a leader in advancing global research, collaboration, and clinical impact.
