
The SIOP Africa community has officially opened nominations for the SIOP Africa Recognition Lifetime Achievement Award, a prestigious honour celebrating individuals who have made exceptional and sustained contributions to paediatric oncology across the African continent.
This award recognises a distinguished individual whose lifetime work has significantly advanced the field—whether through clinical care, research, education, advocacy, capacity building, or leadership that improves outcomes for children with cancer.
SIOP Africa invites the community to help recognise the individuals shaping the future of paediatric oncology across the continent.

About the Award
The Lifetime Achievement Award acknowledges individuals who have demonstrated:
- Significant advancement of paediatric oncology care in Africa
- Impactful contributions in clinical care, research, education, or capacity building
- Strong advocacy and leadership in improving outcomes for children with cancer
Eligibility Criteria
Nominees should:
- Be a SIOP Africa Member
- Have dedicated most of their career to addressing issues affecting children with cancer
- Demonstrate outstanding leadership and service in paediatric oncology
- Show measurable contributions to improving child cancer care across Africa
- Be recognised by peers for integrity, mentorship, and dedication
Nomination Requirements
Each nomination must include:
- A one‑page nomination letter outlining the candidate’s achievements
- The nominee’s brief curriculum vitae (CV)
