Dear Members of the Young SIOP Network (YSN),
We are writing to update you on the election results for the Vice-Chair position for YSN.
Congratulations to Dr. Louise Guolla on being elected Vice-Chair of YSN. Dr. Guolla finished her training in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at McMaster University in Hamilton, ON, Canada, in June 2023. She is currently working as a locum Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist and completing a PhD in Health Research Methodology at McMaster University, associated with the Clinician Investigator Program, and supported as a CIHR Vanier Scholar. She is a generalist at heart and excited by the breadth of standard pediatric oncology treatments, emerging therapies, and survivorship care, with a particular drive for improving outcomes for Adolescents and Young Adults (AYA) through their research and clinical work. Dr. Guolla is passionate about teaching, coaching, and mentorship and is a strong advocate for 2SLGBTQIA+ health and community needs.
As a competitive athlete for much of her life, Dr. Guolla brings tenacity, dedication, and a team-focused perspective to all of her endeavours. Since joining the Young SIOP Network in 2019, she has built her leadership experience and communication skills, fostering ties throughout SIOP. As a member of the Young SIOP Network Steering Group and representative to the SIOP Membership Committee since 2021, her contributions include the development of the Young SIOP Rising Star award, enhancing communication to the broader YSN through establishment of the Membership Engagement Working Group, contributing to the annual YSN Education Day program at SIOP Congresses, and supporting all other YSN endeavours through their recent expansion to encompass non-congress activities. Dr. Guolla has further been instrumental in establishing the Young SIOP Committee within SIOP North America. She is excited to be the inaugural Vice-Chair of the YSN and looks forward to the new opportunities for personal and professional development offered by this position.
