About the Lecture
This webinar will provide an overview of current radiotherapy treatments and techniques for children with both localised and metastatic nephroblastoma. The session will highlight practical considerations, evolving approaches, and the role of advanced modalities such as proton therapy. It is designed for paediatric oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, and multidisciplinary teams involved in paediatric renal tumour care.
Speaker: Dr. med. Patrick Melchior
Dr Patrick Melchior is a specialist in radiotherapy and palliative medicine with a focus on paediatric and interventional radio-oncology. He serves as a senior consultant at the Department of Radiotherapy and Radio-Oncology at Saarland University Hospital.
He is widely recognised for his leadership and expertise:
- National and international reference radiotherapist
- Chair (since 2022) of the International Reference Panel of the SIOP Renal Tumour Study Group (RTSG) for radiotherapy of paediatric renal and extracranial rhabdoid tumours
- Co‑principal investigator (since 2024) for the paediatric and adolescent renal tumour study
Dr Melchior brings extensive clinical experience and global perspective to this session, making it an invaluable learning opportunity for clinicians across diverse settings.
