SIOP PARC II Project – Year 1 Executive Summary

During the first 12 months of the PARC II initiative, GALOP has achieved key strategic milestones aimed at expanding collaborative research capacity, establishing robust governance frameworks, and engaging civil society across Latin America. The project continues on track to build a sustainable, regional clinical research network.

  1. Key accomplishments by aims

 Aim 1: Regional collaboration & governance

  • Framework agreement signed: Formally ratified the collaboration agreement with CLEHOP (July 31, 2025) to streamline multi-institutional research and resource sharing.
  • Operational synergy: Established monthly joint governance meetings and defined common guidelines for protocol development and regulatory workflows.

Aim 2: Multi-center retrospective research (Ewing Sarcoma study)

  • Protocol launch & ethics submissions: Protocol finalized and submitted for IRB/Ethics Committee review across target centers in Peru, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, Haiti, Brazil, Argentina, and Honduras.
  • Data infrastructure: Configured and validated the centralized REDCap electronic database for secure, pseudonymized data collection, supported by remote data monitoring protocols.

Aim 3: Civil society engagement & strategic communication

  • Community outreach: Secured participation of GALOP in the XVIII CCI LATAM Regional Congress in Rio de Janeiro (May 2026) as the primary launchpad for engaging Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and parent advocacy groups.
  • Digital infrastructure & inclusivity (next steps): Ongoing deployment of GALOP’s upgraded digital platforms (website and social media), alongside the full translation of institutional resources into Portuguese to foster seamless inclusion of Brazilian centers.
