Congratulations to Gita Naidu, SCN Co-Chair Elect, starting October 2025

Gita Naidu is the head of Paediatric Oncology at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, the academic head of Paediatric Oncology at the University of the Witwatersrand, chair of the South African Association of Paediatric Haematology Oncology, and co-chair for the sub-Saharan Africa Regional Advisory Committee, St Jude Global. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students in Paediatrics and trains fellows for Paediatric Oncology at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. Her special interests are infections in the immunocompromised host, leukaemia, lymphoma, AIDS-related malignancies, nutrition in children with cancer, and antimicrobial stewardship. She is the associate editor of the South African Journal of Oncology and editor of the South African Journal of Child Health and collaborates on various clinical trials. She is also a member of the boards of CHOC Foundation SA, Reach for a Dream, and Kids Kicking Cancer.
