We are excited to announce that our second annual virtual Young SIOP Network Annual Business Meeting (ABM) is a short ONE WEEK AWAY!

This year’s meeting will feature a keynote lecture “Exceptional Leadership: 16 Critical Competencies for Healthcare Leaders” by Dr George Velez, an expert on health systems leadership (bio below). We will also provide key updates from the YSN and highlights of our accomplishments throughout the year.

Dr. George Vélez is a nationally recognized healthcare executive and retired member of the Federal Senior Executive Service (SES), with over 30 years of leadership across the Department of Veterans Affairs, academic medicine, and global health organizations. Most recently, he served as CEO of the VA Healthcare System of the Ozarks, achieving three consecutive CMS Five-Star ratings. He is currently the VA Regent for the American College of Healthcare Executives and a faculty collaborator with the Division of Clinical Informatics at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Vélez is an expert in high-reliability healthcare systems, crisis leadership, and transformative strategy. He has led care delivery improvements for over 50,000 Veterans, advanced Whole Health Programs, and taught leadership courses for institutions from Cairo to Cambridge. His international work includes pediatric oncology systems development in Latin America and the Middle East. A sought-after speaker, educator, and mentor, Dr. Vélez brings a powerful blend of operational wisdom, academic depth, and human-centered leadership to every stage he steps on.
