Dear Young SIOP Network,
You may already have seen in official SIOP Communications and in our previous messages that the Steering Group of the Young SIOP Network is seeking four (4) members to start a new two-year term as of October 2024. These included two (2) Members-At-Large, one of which will be selected to represent the Young SIOP Network on the SIOP Education and Training Committee and may serve Co-Chair positions within our Working Groups, one (1) Chair of our Membership Engagement Working Group and one (1) Chair of our Collaborative Event Working Group. A detailed description of the positions are listed below.
General responsibilities of each Steering Group member include:
- Active participation in all Steering Group meetings, participating in the organization, administration, and support of all YSN activities, deliberation on the winner of the Rising Star Award, and voting on all matters arising at the Steering Group level
- Fulfilling duties as Chair or Vice-Chair on the Steering Group or Working Groups as applicable
- Maintenance of YSN documents including Terms of Reference, Logical Framework, and archives of previous events and programs
- Providing handover and documentation to incoming Steering Group members of specifics of roles, duties, and timelines required of their position
Specific Responsibilities of Chair roles include:
Chair, Membership Engagement Working Group
- Organizing and leading regular WG meetings, including creation of agenda/minutes and maintaining communication with WG members, reporting updates to Steering Group.
- Supporting Vice Chair and Steering Group in election / selection of YSN award winners, new working group members, and YSN liaison/representative positions
- Managing and delegating responsibilities of WG including
- Maintaining and coordinating regular communication with YSN representatives and liaisons across the various SIOP Networks and Committees including through election processes
- Maintaining accurate listing of YSN working group membership and reviewing applications for new WG members on a regular basis
- Maintaining YSN Website and communications to general SIOP membership (i.e. SIOP Connect) via collaboration with SIOP Secretariat
- Planning and execution of annual business meeting in collaboration with Vice Chair
- Additional projects which may be considered on an ad hoc basis (i.e., membership surveys, YSN/SIOP Transition Program etc.)
Chair, Collaborative Event Working Group
*Please note; this WG and its responsibilities are undergoing restructuring and duties may change significantly in coming months-years. We encourage applicants to outline ideas they may have for expansion of this group in their application*
- Organizing and leading regular WG meetings, including creation of agenda/minutes and maintaining communication with WG members, reporting updates to Steering Group
- Managing and delegating responsibilities of WG including:
- Complete organizational responsibility of annual in-person Collaborative Event at SIOP Congress which may include: venue and menu selection, identification of funding, agenda-setting, attendance tracking, hosting of event at congress.
- Coordinating with Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and local Young SIOP members to optimize event planning
- Creative fund-sourcing to support events; this may be in collaboration with SIOP Board and LOC
- Additional projects which may be considered and expanded on in future. Some ideas may include: online networking/collaboration events throughout the year, organization of other YSN networking activities related to the congress (ie subsidized accommodations, creation of accommodation hub for YSN, YSN buddy system at congress, etc.), and more.
Nominations/self-nominations are welcome for 4 Steering Group Member positions with the Young SIOP Network (YSN) by Aug 31, 2024, at 12pm noon CEST.

Before you apply, please be sure to read the Terms of Reference (TOR) of the Young SIOP Network. The elected leaders enter in position in October 2024 and have a 2-year term.
Eligible candidates must be a current YSN member in good standing (with paid membership dues for the current year) and not greater than 40 years of age at the time of nomination.
