Coping with Grief and Hospital Avoidance in a Child During Rhabdomyosarcoma Treatment
This session will explore a case of grief in paediatric oncology, examining how the loss of a close peer during treatment affected a child’s emotional wellbeing, coping mechanisms, and engagement with medical care.

Aida Nkhoma — Child Life Specialist
Aida holds a degree in Social Sciences from the University of Malawi and joined World Child Cancer in November 2021 at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, where she works with children and families navigating the challenges of paediatric cancer care.
