The International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP) is proud to announce the publication of the SIOP Guidance Standards Framework for Paediatric Oncology Units in Low- and Middle-Income Countries – a landmark resource designed to guide the organisation, delivery, and continuous improvement of childhood cancer services worldwide.
Developed through an international, multidisciplinary collaboration of experts across all SIOP Continental Branches and partner organisations, this comprehensive framework sets out practical, evidence-informed standards to enhance the safety, quality, and equity of paediatric oncology care.
The document aligns with the WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer and the CureAll framework, supporting global efforts to achieve at least 60% survival for all children with cancer by 2030. It covers key aspects of care, from infrastructure and multidisciplinary teamwork to infection prevention, family-centred care, and quality management, offering adaptable tools for implementation in diverse health system settings.
It is not merely a technical manual — it is a manifesto for equity, grounded in the belief that every child deserves access to the highest attainable standard of care in their context.
