🎗️ Twenty Years of Making Children Matter🎗️
Twenty years ago, My Child Matters, an initiative of Foundation S, was launched with a simple but powerful belief: a child’s chance of surviving cancer should not depend on where they are born. 🌍📍
🚀 Today, that belief has translated into action for more than 280,000 children in low- and middle-income countries—through earlier diagnosis, stronger health systems, reduced treatment abandonment, better supportive and palliative care, training, registries, telemedicine, and psychosocial support. Always grounded in real-life needs. Always close to children and families.
📌 This special issue of CancerWorld is dedicated entirely to that impact. It shares stories from hashtagColombia, hashtagParaguay, hashtagBolivia, hashtagTanzania, hashtagUkraine, Sub-Saharan hashtagAfrica, and beyond, alongside initiatives such as the My Child Matters Nursing Awards, Programa TELEO, hashtagCheckUpAYA, and the Home Away from Home program developed with Childhood Cancer International – Europe.
We invite you to read this special issue, reflect on what sustained commitment can achieve, and be inspired by what happens when children truly matter.
