SIOP Women Leaders in Pediatric Oncology (WLPO) is proud to present a special session at SIOP 2026, open to all Congress delegates.

“Likeable and Effective: Breaking the Double Bind for Women Leaders”

Date: Wednesday, September 16, 2026
Time: 1:30–3:00 PM
Location: Room 304

Featured speaker: Jennifer Rubin Grandis, MD
Physician-scientist, author, and advocate for equity in science

Dr. Grandis is Professor of Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery at UCSF and an American Cancer Society Professor. A long-standing NIH-funded principal investigator in cancer biology, she has served on national committees on equity and mentorship in academic medicine.

Her new book, Harsh Medicine: Why Women Can’t Get Ahead in Science and Healthcare (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2026), draws on research, policy analysis, and firsthand accounts to examine the barriers women face — and sets out practical steps institutions can take.

Win a copy of the book
Fifty copies of Harsh Medicine are being given away to attendees. Entry details will be shared during the session, and winners are drawn at random and emailed the same afternoon.
