Dear Colleagues and friends,

The 55th Congress of the “Société Internationale d’Oncologie Pédiatrique” (SIOP) will be held October 11-14, 2023, in Ottawa, Canada.

From the first meeting of SIOP in November 1969 in Madrid, Spain, to our recent virtual and then hybrid meetings, the SIOP community has come together every year to share their experience, knowledge and research in pediatric oncology. SIOP is a unique meeting that brings together all caregivers: physicians, nurses, psychologists, surgeons, paediatric and radiation oncologists, and many others, all involved in the care of children and teenagers with cancer and their parents from all around the world. The conference serves to improve the outcomes in this field and enrich the knowledge for everyone. I am honoured to continue this enriching story with the 55th SIOP meeting in Ottawa.

As such, and on behalf of the Local Organising Committee, I would like to welcome all of you in Ottawa for the next SIOP meeting to share your results, experience, and knowledge. We hope that SIOP 2023 in Ottawa will be an important moment to share research and knowledge and, thanks to all of you, help us to cure more children and to cure them with fewer late effects of therapy.

As Canada’s capital city, Ottawa boasts a thriving cultural scene, a wealth of historic landmarks, and wide-open green spaces, making it the prime destination for a truly exceptional Canadian experience in a setting that’s both urban and dynamic, as well as green and natural. With a crisp fall breeze, warm sunshine, and a kaleidoscope of beautiful fall colours, autumn is a wonderful time to explore Ottawa. SIOP 2023 will be hosted at the Shaw Centre, located in the heart of Canada’s capital and featuring views of the iconic Rideau Canal and Parliament Hill. Overall, it promises to be an amazing meeting!
