Highlights
- 140 SIOP members attended our webinars and events in Feb 2025. Overall for 2025 to date, we have had 924 unique attendees to our online events, with some people attending multiple events.
- 2025 Annual Congress (Amsterdam) – Abstract submission is now open (due Apr 1, 2025) and registration will open soon.
- SIOP Membership Certificate for 2025 is now available for download from SIOP CONNECT.
- The SIOP Secretary-General reached out to all Networks and WGs to remind them of the minimum requirement of 3 non-Congress activities for the period Jan-Dec 2025.
Updates on the Initiatives across the Society
- The SIOP Women Leaders Network shortlisted the nominations for the 2025 Almanac of Women leaders.
- The SIOP Education & Training Committee reviewed several modules for the upcoming IPA/SIOP Course on Early Diagnosis.
- The SIOP Epidemiology & Outcomes Network held a webinar on “Rare Germline Structural Variants Increase Risk for Pediatric Solid Tumors” on 2/5/25.
- The SIOP Baseline Nursing Standards Group held a webinar on “The Impact of Baseline Nursing Standards on Patient Care: Advancing Pediatric Oncology” held on 2/10/25.
- The SIOP Rehabilitation & Physical Medicines SIG hosted a webinar on Safety of Rehabilitation in Paediatric Cancer on 2/22/25.
- The SIOP GHN Palliative Care WG held a webinar on “Palliative Care in Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors” on 2/17/25.
- The SIOP GHN Research and Innovations WG held an update meeting for its members on 2/18/25.
- A joint webinar on “Sharing your amazing work with the world: Strategies for scientific writing and getting your work published” was held on 26/25, offered by the SIOP Nutrition Network, Young SIOP Network and Edu Cmt of SIOP-NA.
- The SIOP Advocacy Committee ran an ICCD 2025 Toolkit; if you have not submitted your project yet, you still have time do so here by end-March.
- The SIOP PARC Committee developed draft contracts for 3 awardees for RPF#2. Contract with GALOP has been signed and will be communicated through the Weekly Bulletin.
- The SIOP WHO NSA Cmt sent an update to the members (available here) regarding the 2 statements delivered at the 156th WHO Executive Board. Read more here
- The SIOP Scientific Committee and the LOC visited the SIOP 2025 Congress venue at the RAI Amsterdam.
- SIOP Global Mapping of Paediatric Oncology Services Committee published a new article titled A review calling for research directed at early detection of childhood cancers: The clinical, scientific, and economic arguments for population screening and surveillance. in EJC Paediatric Oncology.
- The OncoThon, jointly organized with Oncodaily on 2/15/25, saw engagement from dawn to dusk across the world. Leo Messi, Richard Gere and Alejandra Gere, Princess Dina (SIOP Patron) and Paco Arango as well as the who-is-who of our paediatric oncology community joint the Global OncoThon to support childhood cancer research.
- The SIOP PPO Network launched the Dr. Tori Williard Early Career Award.
