Dear friends of SIOP,
The 50th SIOP Congress 2018 in Kyoto is coming soon, only three months left. It is held in November 16th-19th, 2018, at the International Conference Center of Kyoto (ICCK) which is located at the north of Kyoto City.
You can easily reach there if you take the subway directly going to ICCK from the JR Kyoto Station, taking only about 20 min.
Kyoto is an ancient capital of Japan with amazing history and wonderful arts, and November is the best season of Kyoto because the city is covered by beautiful color changes of leaves of the trees in many old temples, mountains and rivers.
Under such wonderful circumstances, we will have hot discussions about how to achieve the SIOP’s goal “No child should die of cancer” and how to improve inequality to receive early and correct diagnosis as well as best therapies on earth. Better survivorship is also another important theme to be discussed.
Our Local Organizing Committee (LOC), collaborating with the SIOP Board and the Kenes International Congress Organizers Ltd, is now working so hard to prepare for the SIOP2018 Congress.
As the number of abstracts submitted showed a historical record, we expect that 3,000 or more participants would come to SIOP2018 in Kyoto.
We are currently working on putting together an outstanding scientific programme and look forward to gathering top experts in paediatric oncology all in one place. Exciting highlights include keynote lectures by Dr. Yoshinori Ohsumi, 2016 Nobel Prize Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, and Giorgio Perilongo, Past SIOP President.
Visit the SIOP website, and our social media networks on Facebook and Twitter to get the most recent congress updates. Please feel free to share the links and posts among your professional networks.
Thank you for contributing to the success of SIOP’s 50th Congress and its vision for a world where no child should die of cancer.
We are really looking forward to seeing you in Kyoto soon.
Sincerely,

Akira Nakagawara
Chair, Local Organizing Committee
