The SIOP board is taking the current COVID-19 situation very seriously and we will continue to closely monitor the situation and issue regular updates to our members. There are currently no plans to postpone or cancel the Annual Congress (14- 17 October 2020, Ottawa, Canada).
Abstract Submission (Deadline April 01)
There are no plans to postpone the deadline for abstract submission.
Abstract submission is free of charge and does not require registration to the congress or any other binding committments.
Registration (Early Bird Deadline July 31)
Please note that the early-bird deadline for the congress registration ends July 31. Since the situation can be changing within hours at the moment, we cannot advise you what will happen until the summer months. As mentioned before, we continue to closely monitor the situation and issue regular updates to our members and community.
Cancellation Terms & Conditions
Congress Registration
SIOP is not planning to change the meeting dates or cancel the congress at this point in time. Depending on the global situation closer to the actual congress date, a final decision on hosting the meeting and respectively the registration policy will be taken and communicated to all registrants in due time.
Travel & Accommodation
Since cancellation terms depend on individual circumstances, please refer directly to your contractual partner.
As a general rule, the standard cancellation policy of your place of your travel provider and accommodation will apply. For detailed information, please contact your provider and, if required, your travel insurance company.
We are actively taking all the recommended measures for the SIOP Annual Congress in accordance to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) guidance provided by the World Health Organization (WHO). Please refer to the WHO website for up to date information.
Our members and Annual Meeting attendees are encouraged to regularly check the information made available by WHO and review your own government travel advice. Please also keep flexibility and cancellation policies in mind when booking flights, accommodation or making any other travel arrangements for the annual congress.
The safety of all participants, staff and partners are very important to us.
We will therefore continue to closely monitor the situation and issue regular updates.
Patients & Families
In addition, our president Prof Kathy Pritchard-Jones was so kind to share the
Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) Coronavirus advise for children and young people on active cancer treatment (click here to review). Despite being UK specific, we believe this is a great resource and are hoping that other countries are doing something similar in other languages.
Our thoughts and wishes go out to affected patients and healthcare staff at this difficult time.
For any questions, please contact the SIOP Office at info@siop-online.org
Take care of yourself, your loved ones and patients of course.
With our best wishes,
SIOP Office
