Overview

These awards are designed to give Young Investigators, working in the field of paediatric oncology, the opportunity to present their original research at the SIOP Annual Meeting.

Successful candidates will receive the following benefits:

  • Free congress registration
  • Financial support towards their travel and accommodation cost up to EUR 1500 (does not apply for virtual congress)

Application Criteria

• be under the age of 40 years (age is not an absolute limit; please email us at info@siop-online.org to demonstrate that you might have been away from the field due to, for example, for a career break, parental leave or long-term sick leave and we can take this into account for the application)
• be a paid SIOP member for 2026 (Not sure about your membership status? Check here
• be active in paediatric oncology; full time or at least 30%
• submit an abstract to the SIOP Annual Meeting as per the abstract submission rules and guidelines (review here)

Awards will be given to the highest ranking abstracts, selected according to the predefined general quality criteria, i.e. prospective multicentre studies, as well as presentation of large translational projects.

Application

Applications for the Young Investigator Award are included in the SIOP Annual Congress Abstract Submission platform.

Deadline: March 17, 2026 (midnight CET)

There will be no extension.

Young SIOP

New members under age 40 (anyone aged 40 and below*).

HIC: € 40 (initial 2-year membership only), then EUR 40/year until age 40

UMIC: € 20 (initial 2-year membership only), then EUR 20/year until age 40

LMIC: € 20 (initial 2-year membership only), then EUR 10/year until age 40

LIC: € 20 (initial 2-year membership only), then EUR 10/year until age 40

Please note that the initial membership rate (2-year rate) is ONLY available for those who have NEVER been members of SIOP previously. If you were previously a SIOP member but are under 40 years of age, you can pay the yearly rate of EUR 40/20/10/10 for HIC/UMIC/LMIC/LIC respectively.

*If you are above 40 years of age but you can demonstrate that you have been away from the field due to, for example, for a career break, parental leave or long-term sick leave, this will be taken into account. For such cases, please contact membership@siop-online.org.
