This webinar will explore how technology can enhance rehabilitation and physical medicine for children and adolescents with cancer. It will cover factors that influence adherence to general rehabilitation interventions, published technology needs from the perspective of parents and healthcare providers, and current examples of digital tools and technologies being used in pediatric oncology research.
Lynn Tanner, PT, PhD is the Scientific Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Children’s Minnesota and the CEO/Founder of YourSteps Health, Inc. She has over 23 years of clinical and research experience in pediatric oncology rehabilitation. Research interests include chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, rehabilitation interventions in pediatric oncology, rehabilitation utilization, and digital health. She has published over 30 research manuscripts in collaboration with other experts in the field. Her career has extended into technology innovation with the recent creation of a digital platform designed to improve access and outcomes of pediatric rehabilitation.
Hayley Marriott BSc, MSc is a researcher and Associate Lecturer at Oxford Brookes University (UK) with a background in Sport and Exercise Science (BSc) and an MSc by Research focused on exercise interventions for children and young people with cancer. Hayley has worked as a researcher on the FORTEe EU randomised controlled trial, where she was part of the team leading the development and implementation of the study’s technology-based tools, including an augmented reality app and a motion tracking device, to support exercise delivery and engagement. Her work focuses on exercise interventions and the use of technology in paediatric cancer rehabilitation, with a particular interest in how technology can be effectively embedded within exercise interventions to improve feasibility, adherence, and real-world clinical impact.
Please register in advance to attend this session. We look forward to you joining us for what promises to be an informative and interactive session.
