SIOP is inviting nominations for members of the SIOP Asia Scientific Programme Advisory Working Group (SPAWG).
About the SPAWG
The SPAWG supports the SIOP Asia Scientific Committee (SC) in developing the scientific programme of the Annual SIOP Asia Congress. Working under the coordination and oversight of the SC, WG members read, review, and score submitted abstracts within their area(s) of expertise, and their scores help the SC select abstracts for oral and poster presentation. Members also suggest topics for Keynote Lectures, Symposia, and Meet-the-Expert Sessions, and advise the SC on emerging scientific themes and priorities in their field. The SPAWG is an advisory body; final decisions on the Congress programme and abstract selection rest with the SC.
Who Can Apply
Nominees should be internationally recognized experts in their field, with appropriate clinical, translational, and/or basic research accomplishments and publications. Applicants must:
- Be a SIOP member in good standing, with current-year membership fees paid
- Reside in Asia
- Be an active member of the society
- Be fluent in written and spoken English
- Be able to sustain reliable communication, especially by e-mail, with the SIOP Office and Congress teams — particularly during the online abstract review period each year of their term
Areas of Expertise
Members may apply to score up to three categories, selected from: Surgery (AT01), Radiation Oncology (AT02), Childhood Cancer International/CCI (AT03), Nursing (AT04), and Scientific Programme (AT05), each with further subcategories covering specific tumour types and disciplines. The full list of categories and subcategories is available on request from the SIOP Office.
Term
SPAWG members serve a three-year term, rotating on a regular basis to refresh ideas, broaden participation, and continuously improve the quality of the scientific programme. Abstract scoring is conducted double-blind, and the review period itself takes place online over 2–3 weeks each year of the term. The SIOP scientific programme coordinator will provide members with a save-the-date, login details, review instructions, and reminders by e-mail ahead of and during the review period.
Recognition
SPAWG positions are volunteer, unpaid roles. As a gesture of appreciation, WG members are eligible to register for the Annual SIOP Asia Congress at the Early-Bird Rate, even after the standard early-bird deadline has passed.

SPAWG members are selected by SC Asia, with the call for nominations and appointments managed by the SIOP Secretariat in consultation with the SC.
