Congratulations to Dr Jordana McLoone who has been elected as the new SIOP Continental President

Dr Jordana McLoone is a Senior Research Fellow and Deputy Director of the Behavioural Sciences Unit, bridging UNSW Sydney’s School of Clinical Medicine and the Kids Cancer Centre at Sydney Children’s Hospital. With more than 16 years’ experience in paediatric psycho-oncology, Dr McLoone is a leader in psychosocial cancer research, particularly in the area of survivorship.
Her work spans qualitative discovery research—offering nuanced insights into patient experiences—through to implementation research, ensuring that complex, equity-driven interventions are embedded sustainably within health systems. She has led programs addressing system-level gaps such as transition and financial toxicity, and frequently employs co-design and qualitative methods to amplify the voices of those with lived experience.
Dr McLoone’s research extends from tertiary to primary care settings, and includes global collaborations in low- and middle-income countries. She has pioneered innovative approaches to long-term care, including digital health, telehealth, and AI-based models. To date, she has secured over $16 million in competitive funding, published more than 70 journal articles, and delivered over 140 conference presentations.
