SIOP is calling upon its members to contribute to the mission of the Society and its collaborative work in paediatric oncology education, research and advocacy. SIOP is inviting nominations/self-nominations for the following Board-level position:
- GHN Chair
PROFILE
A SIOP Board of Directors member should fulfill the following criteria:
- Be an experienced, accredited senior health professional in the field of paediatric oncology
- Have an established track record in education, (teaching), research and publication
- Be experienced and competent in medical, administrative and political areas
- Preferably have previous experience at National/ Regional/International Paediatric Society level
- Show commitment and be in a position to sustain reliable communication (especially e-mail) with the SIOP Office
- All positions require substantial commitment of time and energy. Consequently candidates should be willing to commit him (her) self to the task
GLOBAL HEALTH NETWORK (GHN) CHAIR
Serving as GHN Chair Elect under the guidance of the current GHN Chair, Federico Antillon and Vice-Chair, Jaques van Heerden and take full office at the Annual Business Meeting during the SIOP 2026 Congress (San Antonio, USA, September 15 – 18) for a 3 year term.
The position-holder is invited to attend SIOP Board of Directors meetings during their “elected” period as an observer.
Candidates are encouraged to review both the GHN website and the Terms of Reference of the GHN Network prior to applying.
PROFILE
The new GHN Chair should fulfill the following criteria:
- Shall be experienced in Global Health issues
- Must have extensive experience and understanding of various resource settings, especially LMICs
- Can demonstrate insight and leadership into the needs of these settings
Candidates from any country may apply for this role. This role will be supported administratively by the SIOP Office and as SIOP Board of Directors Member your attendance to SIOP official board meetings and the congress is covered by the society as token of appreciation for your personal time investment. Candidates must be SIOP members in good standing with membership fees paid for the current membership year.
Nominations are an important part of the SIOP governance process, and everyone can contribute—from the newest to most senior members of our society.
ELECTION PROCEDURES
Any SIOP member with voting rights and in good standing may propose a candidate or self-nominate. The candidates will be shortlisted by a Nominating Committee* followed with an online voting by GHN members. Please make sure the proposed candidate is a SIOP member in good standing and has accepted their nomination to run for election. Being a SIOP member in good standing means that the candidate has paid their SIOP membership dues at the time of submission of their nomination. *Nominating Committee for GHN Chair comprises of the current SIOP Senior Management Team with endorsement by the GHN Chair/Vice Chair and SIOP Board of Directors.

Selection of Candidates by Nomination Committee
Announcement of Candidates & Online Voting: end of April 2026
Online Voting Deadline: early May 2026 ***
Result announcement: By email and formally at the Annual Business Meeting during the 58th Annual Congress (San Antonio, USA, October 15 – 18)
*** GHN Chair is voted on by GHN members only.

Candidates can either self-nominate or be nominated. All candidates are then reviewed by the SIOP Board of Directors and GHN Chair and Vice Chair.
