Bio:
Professor Alan Davidson leads one of Africa’s most established paediatric haematology‑oncology units, offering highly specialised services including brain tumour care and stem cell transplantation. His team has played a pivotal role in developing paediatric haematology‑oncology training in South Africa and across the region through the African Paediatric Fellowship Programme (APFP), collaborating with partners such as St Jude Global and Global Hope.

Bio:
Dr. Emmanuella Amoako is a paediatric oncologist who pioneered and now leads paediatric haematology and oncology services at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital. Her work focuses on developing paediatric cancer care across Africa by strengthening specialist training, expanding diagnostic and treatment access, and building sustainable cancer care systems in low‑ and middle‑income countries.

Head of Paediatric Oncology & Haematology Service, Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC)
Bio:
Dr. Esther Louis Majaliwa is a paediatric oncologist and palliative care specialist leading the Paediatric Oncology and Haematology Service at KCMC and lecturing at KCMC University. Her work spans clinical paediatric oncology, palliative care, and training future specialists in Tanzania and the region.
This joint SIOP–ASPHO webinar aims to:
- Delineate key obstacles to training paediatric oncologists in low‑ and middle‑income countries (LMICs).
- Demonstrate workable and scalable solutions that address these challenges.
- Show how effective training translates into service development, strengthening paediatric oncology care and improving outcomes for children with cancer.
