Highlights
- SIOP and the Global Health Network AYA WG congratulate Dr Maya Prasad (Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, India), recipient of the 2026 GHN AYA Care Award, recognising her leadership in adolescent and young adult cancer survivorship care; she serves as Co-Chair of the SIOP Survivorship Network.
- GALOP marked the first year of its PARC-funded initiative, establishing a regional governance framework with CLEHOP and launching a multi-country Ewing Sarcoma retrospective study across eight Latin American countries.
- The 18th SIOP Asia Congress concluded successfully in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia (25–28 June 2026), drawing 242 participants from nearly 50 countries under the theme “Together for Change: Science, Compassion, and Hope for Every Child.”
Updates from Across the Society
- The SIOP Nursing Newsletter: July 2026 was released, highlighting global initiatives and practical innovations driven by nurses across the paediatric oncology community.
- GHN offered a webinar on the Management of Medulloblastoma on 7 July 2026.
- A webinar on Precision Medicine Meets AI took place on 31 July 2026, featuring Jacob Stern (Team Sid) on the use of genomic insights and AI in a personalised treatment strategy for high-grade osteosarcoma.
- The Supportive Care Network held a network meeting on 16 July 2026, featuring Dr Jocelyn Rivera on “From Silos to Systems: Improving Project Communication in Healthcare.”
- The application deadline for the SIOP Nursing QI Scholars Program (Spanish cohort) was extended to 31 July 2026; selected scholars receive mentorship, a didactic course and approximately $1,000 in project funding.
- A new CME-accredited course, Managing Late Effects in Childhood Cancer, offers 1 CME credit and features seven international speakers on treatment-related adverse effects and rehabilitation.
Updates from SIOP Continental Branches
SIOP Asia
- The SIOP Asia Executive Board received many applications for 12 Scientific Committee positions spanning clinical and supportive-care specialties.
- The SIOP Advocacy Committee welcomed Asia representative Muhammad Saghir Khan.
- The third round of SIOP Asia Meet-ups will took place in July 2026; More than 120 members from different parts of the continent gathered in person for networking. Thank you SIOP Asia Country Ambassadors and members who hosting the meetings.
- SIOP Asia considers applications for new Country Ambassadors on a rolling basis – please apply.
SIOP North America and SLAOP
- The SIOP-North America Executive Board joined the Alliance for Childhood Cancer, endorsing the Lainie Jones Comprehensive Cancer Survivorship Act and opposing a proposed OMB rule that could undermine childhood cancer research infrastructure.
SIOP Africa
- The Annual Business Meeting took place on 28 July 2026. SIOP Africa sent out a newsletter to its members in July 2026.
